The Folly of the Gods
“No one likes a fellow who is all rogue, but we'll forgive him almost anything if there is warmth of human sympathy underneath his rogueries. The immortal types of comedy are just such men.”
Erik's father, Richard Everhard, was a pimp and social activist who fought for the impoverished and their rights. Richard was a very wealthy man, though most of the money went to helping the less fortunate.
During the Frontier Wars, a series of campaigns in the wilds of the New World that were launched against heretics and barbarians that violently opposed the settlers from Realm, Richard was drafted into service. Richard never returned from this war, presumably killed in action. The people of Adorin regard him as a legend and believe him to still be alive and in hiding. Erik was young when he lost his father and has no memories of him.
It was recently discovered that Richard is alive and well, posing as the famous pirate lord Omar Samson. He is in charge of a dwarven crew residing in their hideout, the Shrouded Crag, situated on the coast of the southern continent.
